Teaching with AI — without losing the teacher.
Artificial intelligence is giving instructors new ways to create instructional material that previously required specialized equipment, production staff, or considerable time.
I have been exploring how AI-assisted tools can be used to create practical instructional videos while preserving the instructor's own knowledge, personality, examples, and teaching style.

Teaching SQL JOINs
This series demonstrates another use of AI-assisted video: explaining a technical concept visually and then applying it to actual course work.
The objective is not to replace the instructor. The technology handles much of the production work so the instructor can concentrate on what should be taught, how it should be explained, and what the student needs to see.
JOINs — Part 1
Introduces the fundamentals of SQL JOINs and shows how related tables are connected using JOIN and ON.
JOINs — Part 2
Builds on the JOIN fundamentals by adding filtering to retrieve specific information from related tables.
JOINs — Part 3
Extends the process to multiple-table JOINs, following relationships across several tables to answer more complex questions.
JOINs — Part 4
Introduces LEFT, RIGHT, and FULL JOINs and shows how JOINs can include rows that do not have matching data in another table.
For Instructors
You do not need to be a video producer to create useful instructional videos.
An instructor already has the most important part: knowledge of the subject and experience teaching it. AI-assisted tools can help with scripting, presentation, narration, graphics, demonstrations, editing, and production.
The goal is not to have AI teach your class. The goal is to give you another way to teach it.
I am developing a practical workshop in which instructors learn this process by creating instructional material for their own courses. The emphasis is on doing: choosing a real teaching problem, designing the explanation, building the video, reviewing the result, and improving it.
